Truchas is a small town about 50 miles from Taos. The Taos Plein Aire painters went on location here. The air was smoky so I chose to leave out the sky and focus on the vegetation.

I was lucky enough to go to the Bosque Del Apache in the early winter and see the cranes. This image is from a picture I took as we were walking over a bridge. The water was so still and the reflection was amazing.

One lovely morning I went to the Joh Dunn Bridge, a boat launch for the rafters. It was pre-season and I was lucky to have some quiet solitude. I did some sketches and took some pictures. At that time I was not set up to do plein air painting. I'll be back next year...before the rafters.

I love eating at Sol Food in Arroyo Seco. They have a wonderful patio and an old cart with tons of flowers in front which I noticed while dinning there. I could not resist trying to capture the spirit of the flowers.
